The complainant requested information relating to a parking matter outside his property. West Sussex County Council supplied relevant information, although it withheld some information using the exemption under section 40(2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 on the basis that it was the personal data of a third party. The Commissioner’s decision is that the council correctly relied on the exemption under section 40(2) to withhold the information, apart from in relation to some information that was the complainant’s own personal data that should have been considered separately under the Data Protection Act 1998. The Commissioner does not require any steps to be taken.
