Regina v Weekes: CACD 11 Jan 1999

The defendant appealed his sentence of 15 months imprisonment for having a bladed article in a public place.
Held: Given his record for previous similar offences, a prison sentence was inevitable, but fifteen months was too long, given that even in the altercation which had taken place, the blades were not produced. Nine months substituted.
