Otto Preminger Institute v Austria: ECHR 1994

In the context of religious opinions and beliefs it was pointed out that there is under article 10 an obligation to avoid as far as possible expressions that are gratuitously offensive to others ‘and thus an infringement of their rights’. The Court upheld the seizure and forfeiture of an obscene film about God, Christ and the Virgin Mary.
