Budayeva and Others v Russia: ECHR 20 Mar 2008

The court looked at the particular practical measures and steps which the State had taken to protect against mudslides, which were said to create a foreseeable, mortal risk to the residents of the affected villages. Despite the broad margin of appreciation, the court held that sufficient steps had not been taken.
