The complainant requested information from Sussex Police relating to particular claims it had made, and subsequently retracted, of crowd disorder at a football match between Brighton and Hove Albion and Crystal Palace in November 2017. Sussex Police refused to comply with the request on the grounds that it was vexatious within the meaning of section 14(1) of the FOIA. The Commissioner’s decision is that Sussex Police was entitled to rely on section 14(1) of the FOIA to refuse the request.
