Regina v Turner; Attorney-General’s Reference No 68 of 2009: CACD 15 Oct 2009

The AG referred as too lenient a sentence on a police officer of twelve months suspended for misconduct in public office and conspiracy to defraud. The defendant had repeatedly misused his access to police computer records to obtain and pass on information to criminal friends.
Held: A sentence of 18 months would have been appropriate, but in view of his completion of part of the sentence a sentence of twelve months’ immediate imprisonment would be imposed.
