Regina v Dzokamshure: CACD 2009

The defendant had had a relationship with a woman for several months, but it ended. Some months later he returned to her house, and abducted her, using violence, and forced her into the rear of a car. Another man was present in the car. Her mobile phone was taken away. He drove along the motorway to stop her escaping. Eventually, he came off at a slip road, and she was released. He pleaded guilty, and she refused to give evidence, saying that she did not want him to go to prison. He was of previous good character.
Held: A prison sentence was inevitable, and the 18 month sentence was approved.
