Patent application GB 1009825.9 relates to electrochemical protection of steel in reinforced concrete exposed to the air. The applicants had been unable to satisfy the examiner that the claimed invention was novel and that amendments made to the application had not added matter. Following a hearing at which the applicants provided more information on the particular field in which the invention lay, the Hearing Officer accepted that the claimed invention was novel and that the amendments did not add matter. The case was referred back to the examiner to conclude her examination.
