The Claimants claimed for money lent to the Defendant. The Defendant did not dispute that the money had been lent, but he maintained that the outstanding amount of the loan was to be set off against monies owed to him, the Defendant, because of his employment by them and, in particular, a bonus to which he said he was entitled.
