Regina v Ingram: CACD 20 Aug 1997

The defendant sought leave to appeal sentence after he pleaded guilty to three counts of obtaining property by deception and three counts of handling stolen property and was sentenced to 15 months’ imprisonment on each count to run concurrently. Sixty-eight similar offences were taken into consideration.
Held: The applicant played an important part in the realisation of cheques from the Royal Mail. Those were serious offences and there were many of them. The court concluded that the sentences in no way can be said to be excessive, having regard to all the circumstances.
