Security Industry Authority (Decision Notice): ICO 26 Mar 2012

Following a previous related complaint to the Information Commissioner, the complainant requested information about the investigation or other use made by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) of intelligence he had provided to it. The Information Commissioner’s decision is that SIA was correct to rely on section 30(3) to refuse to confirm or deny whether it held any relevant information and the balance of the public interest favoured maintaining the exemption. The Information Commissioner does not require any steps to be taken to ensure compliance with the legislation. Information Tribunal appeal number EA/2012/0095 has been disposed of by way of a consent order.
