Department for Work and Pensions (Central Government): ICO 11 Nov 2020

The complainant submitted a request to the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) for information on how DWP had applied the Public Sector Equality Duty in relation to DWP’s ‘People and Locations’ strategy. The Commissioner’s decision is that DWP is entitled to withhold the legal advice falling within the scope of the request. The Commissioner concludes however, that DWP has breached sections 10(1), 17(1) and 17(5) as it did not comply with its obligations under section 1(1) within the statutory time frame. No steps are required.
