Regina v Penman: CACD 15 Jul 1997

The appellant appealed a sentence totalling six months. He had been woken from a drunken sleep to learn of his wife being harassed. He was given a knife, and went out into the street brandishing it. He brandished it at one group, and continued after learning that they were police officers.
Held: The fact that they were police officers was an aggravating feature, not mitigation. The sentence stood.
